S Drive on Computer

The S Drive on Computer is part of the central windows file store and enables groups of users to access and share files necessary for their work. Before trying to access the shared drive, make sure you have access permission from the folder’s owner in Desktop Computer.

How to S Drive on computer ?

Connecting to an S:\ Location :

  • Copy the drive location address.
  • Click Connect to Server or use the keyboard shortcut + K.
  • Paste the mac drive location address in to the Server Address Field and click “+”.
  • Sign in and select Registered User & “Locations” section.

Accessing the S:Drive on a PC :

  • Open File Explorer > select This PC > Map network drive.
  • Select the drive letter you want to use (S:) for the network folder.
  • In the Folder field, type \ad.monash.edu\shared.
  • Reconnect at sign-in and Connect using different credentials.
  • Click Finish and enter your username as MONASH\username and password.
  • Click OK to finish.

Windows PC :

  • Open the File Explorer.
  • Click the yellow folder icon and type File Explorer“.
  • Select “This PC” and Computer tab.
  • Select Map network drive and “What network folder would you like to map”.
  • Select the S: drive and add the server name: \ds.fordham.edu\dfs\Shared.
  • Click Finish.

Access the drives for another session:

  • Open the File Explorer.
  • Click the yellow folder icon and type “File Explorer”.
  • Select “This PC” and find the mapped S: drive under Devices and drives.
