The YouTube search bar is used to type in any known keywords and YouTube will present you with related suggestions. You don’t need an account to watch YouTube videos, but it helps. With a YouTube account, you can save videos to watch later, set up your YouTube homepage with your favorite YouTube channels, and get customized recommendations for watching YouTube videos.
Remember that YouTube has full track of your past activities on the website. That means it knows what kind of videos you usually like to watch.

To sign up for a free YouTube account :
- Open YouTube using your favorite browser on your computer.
- Click on Sign Up at the top of the screen.
- Enter your information as requested.
- From there, you customize your YouTube account.
Where is the search bar found in YouTube ?
In the current UI of the app, when you click on it, the search icon in the top right expands to a full youtube search bar. In the new design, the previously expanded search bar is featured prominently in the top left of the app, replacing the now obsolete magnifying glass icon and interestingly the YouTube logo as well.
How can you see from the opening screen ?
When you log into YouTube, you’re immediately presented with a Recommended section of videos that the site has selected for you because you’ve seen similar videos before. Below that section is a selection of movie trailers, recently uploaded videos, and popular channels in categories including entertainment, society, lifestyle, sports and others that vary according to your history on the site.
You are also presented with a Rewatch section of videos you’ve watched in the past and a Popular Music Videos section. It’s all on the opening screen of YouTube. However, there is much more to see if you know where to look.
Browse YouTube Channels –
Click on the menu bar in the top left corner of the YouTube screen to open the side navigation panel. Scroll down to browse the channel and click it. At the top of the screen that opens are a series of icons that represent the different categories of videos you can watch.

- Gaming
- YouTube Movies
- TV Shows
- News
- Live
- YouTube Spotlight
- Virtual Reality
Click on any one of these tabs to open a page with videos in that category that you can watch.
How to watch movie on youtube ?
YouTube offers a great selection of current and old movies that are available for rent or sale. Click the Movies tab in the Browse YouTube movie or channel screen in the left navigation panel to open the movie selection screen. If you don’t see the movie you want, use the search field at the top of the screen to find it.
Click on any movie thumbnail to see an expanded preview of the movie.
How can you fix YouTube search bar ?
It depends on where you are placing your problem. If you’re having it with your smartphone’s YouTube app, you might be rocking an older version of the software. Go to your respective app or play store and update youtube app. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to go to your YouTube app settings and try clearing your app data cache.
If that still doesn’t work, you might want to visit the YouTube site through a browser. If the search bar is not working there or in your phone’s app, it means that there is a problem with the search function of YouTube, which has happened in the past. If that’s what’s happening, there’s really not much you can do about it.
But some users managed to find a strange solution. Some clever tech savvy found that you’ll sometimes be able to use the YouTube search function in restricted mode, even when there’s a site-wide search outage.
To access Restricted Mode, click your YouTube profile, then click Settings, then click General, and then enable Restricted Mode.
Once you do that, you should be able to browse videos for some reason. Since it’s in restricted mode, you might not be able to access some content, so keep that in mind the next time you try to watch Eternal Champions Fatal Montage.
